Pet-Friendly Airlines: Pets in Cabin, Pet Fees & Pet Travel Restrictions

(Post last updated May 21, 2023)

If you’re looking to fly with your pet this year, then you may be wondering, “Which airlines are pet-friendly?”

Whether or not a pet is allowed on board will depend on the airline’s pet policy. For the most part, cats and dogs are the easiest to travel with, although a few airlines will allow also rabbits and birds, and large pets are out of luck when it comes to entering the cabin unless they are a certified service animal. Some airlines may allow pets to be in the cabin for domestic flights, but they won’t allow the same pet for an international flight. Sometimes even the plane type or ticket class you purchase will impact whether or not your pet is allowed. Ultimately, every airline will have its own rules and restrictions (even within the same country), and so it’s important to always do you research before attempting to fly with a pet.

For us, pet-friendly means that the airline allows small pets to enter the cabin as opposed to only being contained in the plane’s cargo hold. Below you will find a list of airlines with a breakdown of whether pets are allowed to fly in cabin, the cost per pet per flight, and other relevant information like whether an airline allows only domestic travel or no pets in cargo.
