Pet-Friendly Photo Spots in the Valley of Fire
If you’re looking to escape the business of Las Vegas and enjoy natural views over man made monuments, then consider taking a quick road trip to the Valley of Fire. Located just an hour from The Strip, the Valley of Fire offers incredible views of red sandstone formations and the best part is much of the state park is pet-friendly!
Below are some of our favourite spots for some pet-friendly fun:
1. Mouse Tank Road
2. White Domes
3. Fire Wave
4. Rainbow Vista
5. Atlatl Rock Campground
If you’re in need of other suggestions or need help getting around, you can always check out the Visitors Centre before heading off. Just keep in mind that pets are not allowed inside.
Pet-Friendly Considerations
We had the fortune of visiting the Valley of Fire in November when temperatures were mild, but be prepared for scorching temperatures if you plan to visit in the summer. Don’t forget that it is also dangerous to leave your pet unattended in the car during the warmer months and to provide your pet with extra hydration to combat the hot weather. We recommend exploring early in the morning or during the evening when temperatures are less severe. Finally, be extra wary of wildlife, like foxes and bighorn sheep, and make sure to keep your pet on a leash that is no longer than 6 feet.
Getting to the Valley of Fire
If you’re driving from Las Vegas, you’ll be able to reach the park’s entrance in just under an hour and a half. Entrance fees are paid per vehicle with the basic cost for out-of-state residents being $10 or $8 for Nevada residents. If you plan to camp overnight, you’ll need to pay $20 or $30 for hookups. These fees can be paid at the park entrances or through the self-pay stations.
